Home Trends (Bedroom/Bathroom)

With every passing year comes new trends that influence the way the interiors of homes are designed. 2025 is no different, with certain styles falling out of favor with others taking the stage. This article is the second of a three-part series where we will take a look at some of the popular styles becoming fashionable in today’s real estate landscape. Today we will be exploring bedroom and bathroom design trends.

Bedrom Trends

Humans spend around a third of their lives sleeping, which means that we spend a lot of time in the bedroom. It should be welcoming, comfortable, and relaxing, and the goal of these trends is to make that time in the bedroom as enjoyable as possible.

Discrete Technology

It’s impossible to avoid technology in today’s day and age, but it’s possible to avoid seeing it. Discrete technology is sleek and sophisticated, providing functionality in private. For example, LED light strips can be attached to the underside of a bed to give it an underglow, illuminating the floor in colorful light. Hidden speakers can fill your bedroom with music while being out of sight. Wireless device-charging stations can be kept tucked away when not in use, decluttering furniture. If you have a lot of cords tangled in a mess on your nightstand, cable management devices can organize and hide them out of sight. Nobody likes waking up to tangled wires!

Biophilic Design

In 2025, reconnecting with nature is becoming popular. This has led to an uptick in biophilic design, which is the practice of incorporating natural elements into a space. In a bedroom, this can come in the form of indoor plants or letting in a lot of natural light. Using eco-friendly furniture built with sustainable materials is also a way to incorporate biophilic design. The idea behind this style of designing is to merge the outdoors with the indoors, creating a seamless transition between the two. Opening windows and letting in fresh air is a way to elevate this style.

Mood Lighting

Recessed lights often give off a sterile feeling with their harsh, bright lighting. The light they emit is emotionless and cold, and that isn’t what a bedroom should feel like. This is why mood lighting is becoming more popular, as it is welcoming and warm. This style of lighting balances light and shadows, utilizing multiple light sources to create a calming atmosphere. This can be elevated even more with dimmable switches, allowing you to set the mood any time of day. LED light strips can also create mood lighting with their ability to change colors and brightness.

Smooth Edges

Sharp angles are on their way out, and smooth ones are in. Curvier furniture is becoming more popular in the bedroom as it has a more inviting and cozy feel. Smooth lines welcome you into your bedroom, while straight ones are more jarring. Most pieces of furniture have a variant with smoother edges, with headboards, armchairs, and dressers all having the potential to be a statement piece in your bedroom. Also, you won’t have to worry about bumping into a sharp corner!

Mixing Textures

2025 is the year of straying away from uniformity. In the bedroom, mixing and matching different design elements allows you to create a personalized and unique space. This can be done by adding a variety of textures to a room, creating a tactile experience. A duvet’s texture doesn’t have to match the pillowcase, and the pillowcase’s texture doesn’t need to match the rug. Visually, different textures can give your bedroom more depth and character as patterns differ from one another.

Bathroom Trends

The bathroom should be a sanctuary in a home. An unwelcoming bathroom can make spending time in there uncomfortable, which is a miserable experience. Adopting these bathroom trends will make your bathroom more stylish and welcoming for you and your guests.

Floating Vanities

While they aren’t actually floating, vanities that are attached to the wall rather than the floor can open up space in a bathroom. The extra room underneath the vanity can be used to store items too, but leaving it clear will make cleaning easier and make your bathroom appear larger. Smaller bathrooms benefit the most from the space created by a floating vanity. This fashionable trend can transform your bathroom from feeling cramped to feeling luxurious.

Smart Technology

Every aspect of your bathroom can be made “smart,” from the floor to ceiling. This technology can turn a normal experience into a spa-like one, creating an at-home sanctuary. Luxury begins at your feet, with heated floors ensuring you won’t step on cold tile again. Your toilet can be smart too, opening when it senses you near and self-cleaning after a flush. From there, the shower’s temperature and water flow can be controlled via your phone while you get ready to enter. Lastly, you can make your final touches in front of your mirror, which can display information, such as the weather, on it like it’s a TV screen.

White Plumbing Fixtures

Metal-like finishes on plumbing fixtures have been commonplace in bathrooms for a long time, but other styles are pushing to become more prominent. One of these is white faucets, which provides a fun, light feeling to a bathroom. This contemporary design choice is versatile, as white matches many colors and patterns. This white style can extend to other fixtures, such as vanity handles or towel racks. The neutral color of the fixtures allows you to be creative with the other colors present in your bathroom.

Statement Wallpaper

Using wallpaper is a great way to give your bathroom personality. There are a variety of styles, from floral to geometric patterns. Wallpaper can be the centerpiece of a bathroom or used as an accent to other elements. While wallpaper design is a personal preference, every person purchasing it must consider the paper’s resistance to water and moisture as some wallpapers were not created with water resistance in mind. And, with the bathroom being a smaller room, you have more freedom to experiment and try out different patterns.

Open-Concept Showers

A way that designers are removing clutter from bathrooms is through open-concept showers. The doors, walls, or both are removed from the shower, creating a bathing area that flows into the rest of the bathroom. These showers are easier to clean, have better ventilation, and increase the natural light that enters. Unfortunately, open-concept showers provide less privacy than their counterparts, but their sleek design is fashionable in 2025 and likely the years to come.

Although these trends are almost guaranteed to shift in the future, it is interesting to look at what styles are becoming popular in 2025. In our next and final blog in this series, we will be taking a look at living room and garage design trends.
